Excellent – quoted by me on every workshop – an incredibly lucid account of the importance of the here and now – and important reflections on how we might be a little more caring about the planet we share - Willie Horton |
I’m a frequent traveller through Geneva airport – one of the easiest airports to access anywhere I’ve ever been. And, of course, with the Swiss’s penchant for efficiency, you can always expect a smooth travel experience. Or, so you might think!!
A quick glance at Geneva Airport’s website will indicate that some 60 million Swiss Francs is being spent of upgrading the facility at present. New shops, new restaurants and a revamp of the whole departures area. A great deal of thought and effort has been put into this – but, at least in one area, unfortunately, it is the predictable thought of normal people. Time was, you could sail through passport control in a couple of minutes, max, on arrival in Geneva. However, some genius – and I’m not even going to attempt to figure out what thought processes may have been involved – has decided that, rather than have one passport control for all arrivals in the arrivals hall, that each segment of the airport should have its own passport control.
The result? Well, I’ve arrived in Geneva half a dozen times over the last couple of months – and waited up to twenty minutes to clear passport control. But that’s only part of it. The facilities are built too close to the arrival gates, so they’ve had to disable all the moving walkways – people were piling up on top of each other! – and, to put the icing on top of the cake, the people queuing to clear passport control completely block the way of departing passengers trying to catch their flights.
Ah, progress – where would we be without it!Personal & Business Success at Your Fingertips - The ONLINE WORKSHOP at Gurdy.Net |
