This Week's Insight

JFDI

I often hear people tell me that they haven’t found the time to devote five minutes in a day to make the other twenty three hours and fifty five minutes so much better!  Every time I hear this nonsense – because non-sense it is – I am reminded of an expression one of my super-successful clients uses – “JFDI”.

We’re all grown adults – whether we’ve grown old or actually grown up is another question altogether!  But, we all have the capability to decide, each day, as to where we will devote our energies.  Surely, as responsible adults we can decide to “JFDI” – just do it (draw your own conclusions on what the “f” stands for!).

But even if you’re so disorganized, so crazy that you can’t find – or make – five minutes in those twenty four hours to sit still, close your eyes and meditate in whatever way that turns you on, you could at least take the decision to be more mindful with all the other things that make up your day.  If you’re having a cup of coffee, take a split second to smell the aroma.  If you’re entering a room, take a split second to notice how your feet are moving on the floor – is the floor hard or soft, does the pile of the carpet squish with each footstep?   If you’re driving your car, take a split second to feel the texture of the steering wheel in your hand.

Our daily lives are made up of split seconds – and a split second is all it takes to be more present, clearer and focused.  And, remember, each split second you take to deliberately decide to develop your mindfulness is another small step on the road to an effortlessly wonderful life – because no step, no matter how small, is wasted on the journey to enlightenment.
This Week's Personal Development Video Seminar - "Planning Will Get You Nowhere!"
Is it planning that has got you to where you are in your business, your career, you life? Or is it a string of events - some of which appear to be random - that have brought you to now? Planning never works - plans are never implemented as intended, because business and life is a constantly moving target. Worst of all, plans can actually move you away from what might be the best things in life for you. You'd be far better off simply pointing your inner self in the right direction, exciting yourself with a picture of what it would be like to "have it all" - and then see what happens.... This Week's DVD
What the Bleep do we Know? - Vicente / Chasse / Arntz

DVD Ref 5-060018-488493

Even if you’re not into quantum theory, this DVD is worth watching – for anyone aged, maybe, 12 or over.  It’s a mix of modern science, mysticism, theology and spirituality strung together by a fictional storyline which makes the documentary-like interviews all the more understandable - Willie Horton

This life-changing film has become a worldwide phenomenon.   A work of “faction” it’s central character tumbles down the metaphysical “rabbit hole” – into a world where leading authorities in the fields of quantum physics, molecular biology, neurology, theology and metaphysical thought give the viewer an insight into how the universe really works.

Just how mad are so-called 'normal' people!!
Every week we take a look at a real-life story that simply proves that so-called normal people are 'all over the place'!

I’ve just realised that, whilst in New York recently, I was guilty of breaking a State law.   Why?  Because it is illegal to speak in an elevator in New York!   But that’s only the start of it – here’s a couple of examples of just how crazy normal people not only are – but they’re prepared to pass laws to prove it.

As some of you already know, it’s illegal to mow your lawn in France on a Sunday afternoon – just as you may not wash your dirty clothes on a Sunday in parts of Switzerland.   Switzerland also prohibits males from going to the toilet standing up after ten o’clock in the evening.  Staying close to home, it is illegal to sell an ET (as in the extra-terrestrial) doll in France – because he hasn’t got a human face (wonder how they got away with selling Nicolas Sarkozy dolls!), whilst is Greece you can lose your driver’s licence if you’re poorly dressed or unwashed.

In Salt Lake City, it is illegal to walk down the street carrying a violin in a paper bag, whilst in San Francisco, you cannot pile horse manure more than six feet high on street corners!   The law in Pennsylvania prohibits singing in the bathtub and you may not go to bed without first bathing in Massachusetts – although it is illegal to bathe on Sundays!

I could keep going forever – for example, in California, it is illegal for a vehicle without a driver to exceed sixty miles per hour – but let me finish by pointing out that, in South Carolina, the law allows you to beat your wife on the steps of the courthouse on Sundays!

Now, come on – you’re actually living in a world run by people who should be locked up (for a whole variety of reasons)

The Law of Attraction - Are You an Outlaw?

by Willie Horton www.gurdy.net

Ask and you shall receive!   The concept of so-called “cosmic ordering” apparently works along these lines – definitions of cosmic ordering suggest that you write out your wish list (which is somehow cast out into the cosmos) and wait for it to happen (wait for the cosmos to respond).

This is similar to the Law of Attraction, a practice which is recommended by books like The Secret which goes so far as to suggest that you can write a check to yourself for any amount your heart desires, stick it on your refrigerator and, lo and behold, the money will just arrive – The Secret’s website goes so far as to enable you download the blank check (from the Bank of the Universe) for you to fill in.

Now, I’ve been studying psychology and quantum physics for many years and, unfortunately, nonsense like cosmic ordering or writing your own blank check only trivialise important underlying facts.  Not only that, the same nonsense preys on vulnerable people – people looking for an easy solution to life’s woes – and, as a result, they end up being more vulnerable and more disillusioned.   Indeed, over the last couple of years, I’ve picked up the pieces of more than a couple of people’s lives who have been misled by such a nonsensical and simplistic approach.  In fact, the ideas are not just nonsensical – they are dangerous.

First of all, the idea that you can order what you want and wait for it to arrive is dangerous because very few of us really know what we want.   And some who do know what they want have such a warped perception of what is good and right for them and those around them that in setting their minds to get their desired outcome, they wreak havoc.  Adolf Hitler is a case in point – a man who single-mindedly pursued his desired outcomes – but there are few, if any, who would believe that his desires were the kind of thing the universe or cosmos would simply deliver.   Closer to ordinary everyday life, we have the greed of bankers and property developers, again single-mindedly pursuing their desired outcomes.  But, in the process, many have suffered.  Surely the cosmos had no hand, act nor part in that.   And, even closer still to ordinary everyday life, I constantly recollect the words of a client who, on achieving his life’s ambition in business, told me “I’ve reached the top of the hill and, not only do I not like the view, I think I climbed the wrong hill!”

We do not know what is best for us.   For example, many people want to win the lottery but a study of lottery winners (in fact “pools” winners in pre-lottery days) found that not one of the major winners was happy and that, in fact, sudden wealth had ruined their lives.  And, yet, a client recently told me that they had a Universal Bank check for $10m stuck to his refrigerator – “My lottery winnings!”

So, for starters, the idea that we can simply order what we want is dangerous, because we’ve no idea what we truly, deeply want.   Secondly, as I’ve already said, the manner in which you can put in your order for anything you want and then wait for it to materialise is highly, highly misleading and it is not the way the universe actually works.  Indeed, if you follow the line of “logic” suggested by cosmic ordering, you could write down that you’ve won the lottery and win it – without having bothered to purchase a ticket!!   I don’t make this statement as a joke – I make it for an extraordinarily important reason – and it is the piece of reasoning that is left out of either cosmic ordering or the law of attraction.   You must take appropriate action yourself to bring about what is best for you.  That is the most important piece “appropriate action”.   If you take appropriate action your mental energy will, indeed, evoke a response from universal energy – quantum physics’ law of potentiality have proven that conclusively.

But what is “appropriate action”?  Or, more to the point, can a normal person even take “appropriate action”?    The answer to the second question is “No” – because decades of research prove that normal people never take action, they live their lives reacting automatically to everyone and everything they encounter.   Research indicates that normal people use about 1% of their mental energy – not the level of input that is going to evoke any great universal response!!   You have to be abnormal to take appropriate action – and there are enough example of abnormally successful people around (we all know their names) to prove that mental focus and clarity create the ability to take appropriate action.

Put simply, however, appropriate action can be defined as wholeheartedly (in other words more than 1%) doing what is most important to be done now.   That could be playing with your children, it could be making a presentation, it could be talking to a stranger in the airport.  Wholeheartedly doing what you’re doing now requires clarity and presence of mind – and presence is the hallmark of abnormal success.

Abnormal success comes effortlessly to those who pay an abnormal amount of attention to now.  It comes to those who invest an abnormal amount of mental energy in now.  It comes from the energy of a responsive universe which provides top-class investment returns – all we have to do is invest our energy now.
