THE GAME OF LIFE AND HOW TO PLAY IT!

Many thousands of people owe a great deal to this little book, because it has taught them that life it not a battle but a game. The rules for the game are set out in the Old and New Testaments. It is a game of giving and receiving. Jesus Christ taught that ‘whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap’. This simply means that whatever a man sends out in words or deeds he will eventually have returned to him. We are also taught that visualisation plays a leading part in the game of life. What a man imagines sooner or later externalises in his affairs. This book shows how everyone can change their conditions and circumstances by guarding how he thinks and what he says.

People are hurting. Behind the economic statistics there are human tragedies playing out. Last week, a client told me that he was selling his business so that he could pay off his debts, wipe the slate clean and start afresh. I’ve just read that 90% of homes in the state of Nevada are worth less than the loans that were used to purchase them – and that 10% of all homes in the state are vacant. And a few moments ago, I received an email from a “Gurdy-er” who told me that he’s had to find work away from home – he only gets to see his family twice a month. But, as he said “needs must”. In my own business, I’ve seen a dramatic change over the last two years where people now think that looking after yourself is an unnecessary luxury!

The real need that you must address is what is good for you – good for the heart, good for the soul. But it’s not easy to steady your head whilst all around you are losing theirs. If it were easy, we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in – after all today’s economic ‘reality’ is the result of continuous herd behaviour – let’s all be greedy at the same time, let’s all feel needy at the same time.

In response to an email to a US radio talk show last week (I was suggesting that we might do a piece on ‘getting more out of life’) a producer caustically responded ‘come on, man, get real!’. That’s what I’m talking about – we need to get real and stop wallowing in the kind of self-destructive crap that is so typified by that producer’s response. I know many who take perverse pleasure in talking about how bad things are. Stop it. But I also know people – I’ve already mentioned a couple of them – who are actually experiencing how bad things are.
But it needn’t be that way. If your business is driving you into debt, you’ve got to know when to quit. If you’re working away from home because you’ve bought into the idea that there are no opportunities at home, you’ve got to open your eyes. Opportunities abound – ones that are good for the mind, body, spirit and bank account. We’ve got to wake up from the nightmare – because that is all it is. It’s not real. It might feel real but that’s only because you’re still asleep.

Wake up – and stay awake. The one thing that constantly fascinates me is that, in being awake, opportunity simply flows. Yes, there are large numbers of people out there who will not invest in their own happiness. But my business is now booming. As I said to the radio producer, the message that I’m trying to get out is one for our times.
