THE HABIT OF SUCCESS - PART 6: THE VERY BESTEST HABIT! | ACCEPTANCE, GRATITUDE & ACTION | |||||||

Much has been written and said about the importance of living in the present moment. Ekhart Tolle's bestseller, “The Power of Now” is, perhaps, the standard bearer. Much is said on this website on the crucial need to focus in the now - how it is the only time and place you actually are. But what if you don’t like the “Now” in which you find yourself? After all, many are facing unprecedented challenges in the current economic and business environment. Well, first of all be grateful that you have a Now - and be mindful of all those long gone who don't have that luxury. Secondly, you need to fully accept where you are – it is what it is. In any event, all things pass. But if you are determined to stick with the perspective that you don’t like the present Now, then you’re in grave danger of getting stuck in self-destructive and useless thought. This vicious circle will simply perpetuate the perceived pain and will only 'enable' you to react and make matters even worse. What you need to do is take real action (very different from reaction), however unpalatable you might perceive it to be. Real, proper and focused action will help the Now that you think you don’t like on its merry way! After all, everything in this life arises and passes away. |
