This Week's Practical Tip
MAKE TODAY A TRAINING DAY
This Week's Personal Development Video
MEANING YOUR PRIORITIES
Make today a training day. Keep noticing how it feels to sit where you're sitting. Keep noticing how you walk, what it feels like, in your body, to walk. Keep noticing how it feels to breathe in and out - how it feels when air passes through your nostrils. Keep noticing the taste in your mouth, the odours in your nostrils. Keep noticing the small detail of the little things in front of your eyes.
Make today a day that you notice. Noticing is the key to mindfulness and mindfulness will transform your life. Train today with a view to living your life to the full.

This Week's Reflection
THE FIRST NECESSARY THING YOU NEED TO DO IS TO STOP DOING THE UNNECESSARY
Today's video explores the disparity between what we say and what we do or, worse, what we actually dearly wish for and what we do about it. Nothing means anything until you act: everyone has hopes, ambitions, plans, dreams but, if we are to believe the evidence of thousands of surveys over the last thirty or forty years, very few people are doing what they want to do in life, the way they want to do it - nor, indeed, are many people enjoying their existence.
To achieve anything you have to take certain actions. Visualizing yourself having achieved what you want to achieve is a necessary first step - the human mind only perceives and achieves what it expects to perceive and achieve: if you cannot visualize yourself having achieved your objectives, your chances of success are zero - you will waste an inordinate amount of energy trying to achieve the unachievable - or what you believe to be unachievable.
As I said, visualization is a necessary firs step - but that's all it is. It establishes the subconscious expectation and, as a result, focuses the mind in a particular direction. But we then have a problem: the human mind is designed to maintain the status quo in our bodies and in our lives. It is designed to be change-averse and it is designed to automatically react to perceived reality - action, real action, is rarely on the agenda.
But real action is what it takes to achieve anything worth achieving. Like everything else in life, real action comes one step at a time, one moment at a time: life isn't lived by looking forward or backward, nor is it lived through planning - it is lived by what you are actually doing and how you're doing it now. Now is all you have. You need to force the pace now. You need to challenge yourself to do the necessary now. The first necessary thing you need to do is to stop doing the unnecessary - we're good at doing the unnecessary, it fills our day! In the process, of course, it destroys our life.
The second thing you need to do - now - is to look to your priorities and do something - anything - from that list... and do it is if you mean it. Surely you mean to live your life, your way, to the full.
