STAYING PURPOSEFULLY FOCUSSED
STOPPING THE MADNESS
Don't let your thoughts drag down a dark alley and mug you! Easier sais than done? Not at all. When you find that your mind is not where your body is (remember that's pretty much how we're "wired" to be), close your eyes, take three deep breaths, feel the air penetrate, through the nostrils, down into your lungs... breath a little reality because, in reality, that's all that matters,
INSIDE OUT
What's going on in your life at this moment in time? If we were to stop to think about all the things on our ever-growing to-do list, to start worrying about the what-ifs and just how far we might think we are removed from our "ideal life" right now, we'd drive ourselves around the bend (assuming, of course, we're not already there).
But what's going on outside is just part and parcel of everyday life - life's little challenges that arise and... pass away - something that we will do too! And, as death is the only thing we can be absolutely sure we will encounter, we had better start living now. And living is done from the inside out - it is the inner life that matters. It is how we manage, control and marshal our inner being, our own state of mind, it is how we control our emotions that matters. In fact, it is all that matters. If you in control of your own state of mind then you are armed and ready for all the stuff that life throws at you - all the stuff that, in the greater scheme of things, is largely inconsequential.
But there's more to it than that. What's going on inside creates outside - how you perceive, experience and achieve in your life is all determined by what's going on inside. Life is truly lived inside out.
So, today, right now, grab a hold of the controls, man-handle (or woman-handle) the levers of power from that autopilot of yours that has been flying you around in cicles. Set you mind (chart your course) in the direction that you would dearly like your life ot go and, then (and only then) focus your mind in the here and now.
What am I really talking about? Mindfulness with a purpose in mind - your purpose. This is the essence of purposeful mindfulness and this will take you to where you want to go... efffortlessly.
