We’re often apprehensive about doing something that makes us feel uncomfortable – things we should actually be doing to move our life along. Do something uncomfortable today.
JUMPING OFF THE SORRY-GO'ROUND
The old saying has it that procrastination is the thief of time. But it steals a good deal more than just time. First of all theres' the energy that you waste thinking about putting what you've got to do off. Secondly, there's the annoyance and frustration that goes with not having done what you need to do. Then there's the guilt that inevitably follows. Never mind the fact that not doing what you need to do when you need to do it may land you in a pickle!
And, then, there are all the things that you miss while you're thinking about doing what you should have done, while you're feeling the guilt and, in some perverse way, enjoying it. There are all the opportunities that life offers you that pass you by because you're not there - you're living in "I really want to waste my life land". Now, this is no ordinary theme park like Legoland or Disney Land, I Really Want to Waste My Life Land is one where you just keep going on the same ride, day after day until your number is up!
But that's OK, all your friends are there, you bump into all the people that you know and you feel as if you're part of something that makes you feel better about yourself. Heaven forbid you would ever consider leaping, head first, off the sorry-go-'round... you might discover that there is more to life than going 'round and 'round in circles. The truth is, of course, that if you did take that leap, you would find that life is utterly different to what passes for life but what is just about making it through the day. The truth is that you would not only never look back, you would be too busy, too excited and too involved in the real world to even consider that past. And, of course, it's far more fun than jumping out of a moving car!
Now, Real World isn't a theme park like Disney Land either - it's far more exciting and you don't have to queue to get your kicks. They're free, they're of your own making and they last.
