It doesn't matter what time of the day you're reading this - there is always time left to do something important, bold, brave or great, something that will lead you to where you really want to go. So, assuming you're doing something you should be doing, when you finish it, be a little brave and courageous.
A client and good friend, head of a HR function, often jokes that, in too many organizations, those letters stand for Hate & Revenge! Here's a perfect example of what he's talking about. At 22 years of age, Candice was offered a plum job by none other than the Senior Vice President for one of the group's luxury brands. "Obviously" he explained "you'll have to be interviewed by HR but it's just a formality". Excited, Candice started making her arrangements to move to her new location. Her interview with Group HR duly came and went and, after a couple of weeks of complete silence, she got an email to say that they weren't putting her name forward for the panel of canditates! She called them and they explained that she was "too shy" and had left them with a bad impression. She talked to the Snr.VP who simply said there was nothing he could do. Some months later, as HR performed Candice's exit interview (she decided to move on!) they explained what had happened. "We don't know who the Senior VP thought he was - he can't offer anyone a job without our say-so. Don't take it personally, we were just teaching him a lesson!" Hate and Revenge.

GETTING AT THE CHILD WITHIN
We often scoff at things that are, apparently, too simplistic. If a lot of people I know had three eyebrows, they'd raise them all at the notion that five or six minutes spent allowing your mind settle each morning transforms your life - how you see yourself, your world and your place in it. In exactly the same way, most of my clients don't bother to stop themselves in their tracks during the day to do something insignificant but routine in a novel way - the idea that this can add to your ability to be present and aware is unbelievably simplistic. Yet, the element of choice (our choices are normally made for us automatically by our "auto-pilot") and the additional attention required to do something small differently further adds to our ability to be present and self-aware.
Again, the idea that you should handwrite what you want to achieve as if you already have it, seems, all too often, to go in one ear and out the other. How could simply writing it down make any difference? It's far too simplistic! Handwriting focuses the mind - it points our subconscious in the right direction so that we start noticing the opportunities that will lead us in the right direction, so that we'll start doing the right things to get us there - the bold and brave things that today's Quick Tip talk about.
Your life is lived, created and recreated in moments. The little things that we do in each little moment are the threads that, when woven together, form our lives, our reality. It's the little stuff that matters - the stuff that apparently is so simple that it couldn't make a difference as far as our big, intelligent adult minds are concerned. Yet, the part of your mind that drives you either forward or around in circles is childlike. Your subconscious is like a three-year-olds! You need to engage it, impress it, play with it, let it out of the box of adult thinking that does, inexorably, simply lead us round in ever-decreasing circles.
EXERCISE YOUR MIND AND POINT IT IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
In one intensive but relaxed day, you will learn what is wrong with our normal neural "wiring" and how, as a result, our mind normally works against us. You will learn how to:
Purposefully focus - it doesn't come naturally, we're actually "wired" to not focus
Set goals in a way that energizes your subconscious into focused effortless action
Make your very best decisions and solve problems with ease - your brain can do this effortlessly
Banish stress - we're ordinarily "wired" to be stressed
