FOCUS ON FOCUS - PART 1: THE IMPORTANCE OF FOCUS | YOUR LIFE'S TRAJECTORY | |||||||||||||||

Life is lived in moments. Your life today is the culmination of every choice that you've made in each moment up to now. Those choices, normally made automatically, are now in the past - you either learn from them or live in them. What happens next depends on which of these two routes you take. The normal - and default - choice is to live in the past. You won't be aware of it as you do this subconsciously. Your life, at this moment in time, is obvious testimony to this psychological fact. Being annoyed, frustrated or guilty about the past is a total and utter waste of this present moment. Each moment offers you a totally new, once in a lifetime never to be repeated, opportunity to be present, to have presence and alter your life. But, even if you waste this opportunity, many more will come along - so don't beat yourself up, another waste of time and energy. We all set future goals - but the achievement of those goals is a direct consequence of what you're doing now, what you're thinking right now, what state of mind you're in right now. And each and every moment counts. Your life will continue on its current trajectory if you don't mind your mind now. Once you allow your subconscious automatically dictate your thoughts and behaviour you have perpetuated an adult lifetime's habit of sliding down the slippery slope of the repetitive behaviour and flawed thought that leads to unhappiness, frustration, stress and worry. Once you take charge of the state of your mind, you begin to set your life off on a totally different trajectory. But you have to keep it up moment to moment. And if, in this moment, you discover that you're wasting your time and energy and, consequently, have missed this moment's opportunity, never mind, it has now passed - another new moment is always waiting to have its opportunity grasped. |
